Jan Hájek

Jan joined GRAS in the summer 2016 as a part II. assistant. He has completed his final year of Masters at the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture in Edinburgh with distinction where he focused on the educational system in Athens. During the first semester, the course allowed for a submission for the San Juan Cruise Hub Competition with ARCHMedium. Jan and his 4 other teammates won the competition with the scheme : La Cinta Del Mar.

He received Bachelor degree with distinction at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen in 2014. During his studies, Jan took part in a student-led humanitarian project Build Our Nation which was an international collaboration between four universities across Europe trying to design a community shelter for the women in Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This project culminated in a two weeks workshop followed by an exhibition at the Architectural Venice Biennale in 2012. As part of the Bachelor degree, Jan also studied at Bauhaus-Universität, in Weimer, where he discovered his interest in the public buildings.

After the graduation in Aberdeen, Jan worked for a year as a Part I. Architectural Assistant at Christ & Gantenbein in Basel, Switzerland, where he became a member of a competition team that won a proposal for a Lindt Chocolate Competence Center in Zurich.
