Tim Taylor - Artist in residence

Tim Taylor’s artwork celebrates the commonplace, both as subject and material. He has worked in a variety of locations and mediums, from gallery-based work to public installation and performance. An ongoing strand of his work has been the creation of site-specific permanent works in healthcare environments. He has, in particular, learnt through these projects how to tread the fine line between engagement and over-stimulation that can be required in certain clinical situations.

GRAS and Tim Taylor have developed a strong working relationship over recent years, collaborating on several art and architecture projects. These include a joint project in 2007 which saw Tim Taylor exhibit Subterranean Island Explorations, site specific works at GRAS’ Glasgow Studio, the development of a brief and subsequent design of a temporary gallery for Scotland’s ‘Open Dialogues’ at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2012 and the shortlisted memorial for organ donors in Scotland in Edinburgh’s Botanical Gardens. Tim Taylor and GRAS share a passion for the innovative and unexpected use of materials.
