Material Literacy at Architextures LIVE

29.05.2025

Last month in Glasgow, Natasha Huq joined an exceptional panel celebrating five years of Architextures—a platform reshaping how we engage with materials in architecture.

Thoughtfully chaired by Vanessa Norwood, the evening brought together Natasha Huq, Ellen Peirson, Jennifer O’Donnell and Amin Taha for a wide-ranging conversation on the cultural and environmental agency of materials.

In her talk ‘Material Literacy’, Natasha reframed materials as active agents of place, labour and continuity. Drawing on GRAS-led research and the evolving themes of TALKS AT THE LANE, she advocated for a shift beyond surface or data—towards material practices grounded in care, collaboration and resourcefulness.

Our thanks to team at Architextures for convening such an inspiring evening. Photography via Vanessa Norwood & Architextures
