Natasha Huq at the Stone Symposium: The Case for Stone on Friday, July 12

05.07.2024

GRAS Associate Natasha Huq will be speaking at the Stone Symposium: ‘The Case for Stone’ on Friday, July 12.

The resurgence of using stone as a principal load-bearing construction material might be a ‘new’ approach in current times, but it is very much a traditional construction method. In the session titled ‘Working with Stone – Learning From a Conservation Approach’, Natasha will explore how conservation skills can therefore foster an understanding of not only the technical properties of stone but also its cultural role as future archaeology that tells the story of the building.

This one-day conference, organised by the Stone Federation, is addressed to architects, designers, structural engineers, clients, and main contractors. The event will feature some of the foremost voices in natural stone and its sustainability benefits. The symposium aims to highlight the essential role that natural stone can play in creating a more sustainable built environment.
